Established in 1987 in the Hatboro Baptist Church, Play and Learn Hatboro is located in the heart of downtown Hatboro. Our center has 3 developmentally-appropriate play areas for the children. Inside you’ll find bright, cheerful classrooms for learning centers and play.
Play & Learn Hatboro partners with the Hatboro Baptist Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church to participate in the Helping Around Town initiative. This program collects “HAT” packs of food for those in need in the community. The Hatboro location is also within walking distance to two food pantries, located at the Lehman Church and St. John’s, and the library. This provides easy access to resources for families.
My name is Tigist Hawaz. It is my lifetime passion and commitment to teach and care for young children. Watching children move from one stage of their development to the next and helping them succeed is the source of my personal fulfillment and accomplishment.
I believe in teaching and guiding children of all ages with the objective of helping them achieve excellent motor skills and strong physical and mental strength. I am passionate about involving parents and the staff to be part of the guidance to facilitate learning through play.
I have over 20 years of experience in the field of teaching and caring for children of all ages and I bring a rich experience that allows me to mentor and guide the staff and facilitate open communication with parents to effectively create a team atmosphere.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Leadership and earned an industry certificate. My academic training combined with my decades of experience helps me teach and nurture children, offer leadership to staff, and help parents to be part of the overall effort.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
My favorite children’s book is “The Snowy Day”.
Play and Learn Hatboro is located on York Road (Route 263) in downtown Hatboro. The center is minutes from County Line Road and the Willow Grove Exit of the PA Turnpike. Our entrance is located in the back wing of the Hatboro Baptist Church. Please enter from York Road via the church driveway and park in the church parking lot.
