Established in 1981, Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool was the first of its kind in the Fort Washington community. Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool is nestled on beautiful, shaded grounds, on the Wordsworth Academy campus. Our playground is fully shaded with lots of climbing equipment and picnic areas and a paved area for riding toys is not far away. Inside you’ll find bright, cheerful classrooms for learning centers and play.
As part of our healthy living standards and alignment with the Let’s Move initiative, Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool provides enrichment gym and music programs as part of the curriculum. Outside specialists in sports and music join us twice a month and always bring a smile to the children’s faces. In addition, supplemental activity and learning programs are offered to families throughout the year.
Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool offers a full-day Kindergarten licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. A small class size allows for children to spend more one on one time with the teacher and develop the appropriate skills necessary for their transition to public or private elementary school.
For your convenience, Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool offers a low-cost lunch program. This optional program may be perfect to ease your busy schedule. Play and Learn Fort Washington Preschool accepts subsidized payment from Child Care Information Services (CCIS) and offers scholarship assistance through the Granny Scholarship Fund
Our staff looks forward to providing your child with a supportive and nurturing environment and the best in quality child care and early education.
A message from the Preschool Center Director, Joan Ostrum:
I have been with Play and Learn since 1991. I was a Director at the Hatboro Center for seven years and then moved on to the Fort Washington Preschool. I am proud to be a part of Play and Learn. My educational background consists of a B.S. in Education from Temple University and Master’s Degree in Education from Arcadia University. I also have both public and private school certification.
I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I have always loved children and even ran my own day camp at age eleven. I am excited to be involved with your children and enjoy working with our many families.
