For children ages 3 to 4 years old
Your neighborhood Play and Learn early education center utilizes a carefully-planned, hands-on program for our preschool curriculum. Our 3-4 year olds learn with preschool teachers who will take the time to keep your child engaged and learning.
Our nationally-recognized Opening the World of Learning (OWL) preschool curriculum is a strong early literacy curriculum that intertwines topics that engage children’s natural interest to learn about the world around them into an activity-based day.
The OWL curriculum focuses on the following areas of learning:
- Language and Literacy
- Science and Social Studies
- The Arts
- Physical Development
- Social and Emotional Development
Your child will enjoy an active day in a pressure-free environment with preschool activities such as building alphabet knowledge, number concepts and imaginative play. Our teachers will work with your child to teach days of the week, months of the year, and weather conditions. Computers and SMART Boards are used on a daily basis to help your preschooler learn through technology. We will foster independence and confidence in your little one as he or she learns all about taking care of belongings, eating, dressing, and socializing.
You’ll also find music and gym activities, and introductory Spanish lessons in the preschool classroom. Outdoor exercise with friends will round out your preschooler’s day. In addition, enrichment programs such as yoga, soccer, karate, ballet, computer learning, and sports are available to our preschoolers. The curriculum encourages family participation, further reinforcing important concepts and skills.
Your Play and Learn preschool teacher will keep you informed of your child’s day by posting a daily preschool schedule and weekly lesson plans on the classroom’s Family Communication Board. Family conferences will be offered a minimum of three times per year to discuss your child’s developmental progress and preschool education using the Work Sampling System
