For children ages 4 to 6 years old
Utilizing the nationally-recognized Scott Foresman© Pre-K curriculum, we focus on teaching prekindergarten reading and math as well as social studies, science, and creative arts. Unit concepts focus on a main idea that connects learning with hands-on activities and real life experience. With the use of mini books, flip charts, alphabet charts, picture cards, and songs, children develop reading and language skills, build their development of enumeration and begin handwriting. Your child’s day will be enhanced with pre-k games, activities and a variety of kindergarten readiness skills.
The Scott Foresman© Kindergarten curriculum builds on the foundation set forth in the Pre-K programs. Children develop a higher understanding of phonics, word analysis, syllabication and context to make sense of and understand new words that facilitates independent reading. Individual practice books allows children to expand their skills with place values, geometry, shapes and drawings, fractions, time and creative writing. Hands-on activities provide an educationally enriching environment for science exploration.
Our certified Kindergarten program is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education. The program is aligned with the curriculum of public school Kindergarten programs and is designed to prepare your child to transition easily to first grade in a public or private school environment. Our focus for this young group is:
- Encouraging a lifelong love of learning
- Preparing the child to be a confident student
- Nurturing creativity
In addition to educational field trips and special in-house performances, special monthly visits by outside music, gym and other professionals enrich the Play & Learn learning experience. Our program is further enhanced by teaching Introductory Spanish. Computers and SMART Boards are used on a daily basis to help your child learn through technology. In addition, enrichment programs such as yoga, soccer, karate, ballet, and sports are available to our Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
This goal-oriented curriculum covers all areas of school preparation: reading, language arts, spelling, math, social studies, science, handwriting, gym, music, and art. View a sample lesson plan. Family conferences are offered a minimum of three times per year to discuss your child’s developmental progress using the Work Sampling System.
