On June 16th, we held our 2023 staff event! Despite the rain, the event turned out great, and we got to enjoy some good company, food, and fun games.
When the event started around noon, the rain was coming down pretty hard. We had to adapt our set up to accommodate the weather and deal with some unseasonable chilliness! Even though the weather was less than desirable, staff still came out to enjoy the day. By the late afternoon the rain was gone and the sun was out!
Food trucks were a huge hit at the event! The Pizza Wagon, Scratch Kitchen, and Mister Softee provided delicious food and desserts for everyone to enjoy! The Pizza Wagon served – you guessed it – pizza. It was great, and people definitely went back for second, and thirds!
Scratch Kitchen offered a variety of options, including tacos, burgers, fries, and more! Their food got rave reviews, and was a huge hit.
The classic Mister Softee also joined in on the fun, and provided some super yummy frozen treats! Staff could choose from anything offered by the truck, including sundaes, floats, and popsicles.
In addition to amazing food, fun games were part of the day too!
Bury the Hatchet Axe Throwing came to the event and taught our staff the proper axe throwing technique. This was a popular activity throughout the day once the rain cleared up, and many learned about a hidden skill they never knew they had!
Staff had the chance to win prizes, such as Owala water bottles, Under Armour bags, and bento box lunch boxes! We played a game of “Play & Learn Trivia” that included questions about our organizations founding, history, and impact on the community. It was a very fun game and staff members with the most correct answers got to take home some cool prizes!
