Play and Learn Welcomes Foster Grandparents

Play and Learn is proud to have four amazing Foster Grandparents spending time with our children.  Ms. Carol, Ms. Pamela, Ms. Shirley and Ms. Kathleen have all recently joined the Play and Learn family at our Bryn Mawr, Fort Washington, Lansdale and Norristown centers.

The Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities for limited-income seniors over the age of 55 to help children with special needs.  They provide one-on-one academic and emotional support to children who have physical or developmental disabilities or are in need of additional assistance.

Through the consistent nurturing and guidance provided by the Foster Grandparents, these children are able to increase their academic proficiency, improve self-esteem and develop higher-level coping skills.  In addition to creating strong emotional connections with children, volunteer Foster Grandparents benefit from the program by remaining active and contributing members of their communities.
