Keystone STARS Recognizes Some of the Finest Teachers
Keystone STARS is an initiative of the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) to improve, support and recognize the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in Pennsylvania. STARS stands for Standards, Training/Professional Development, Assistance, Resources and Support. The Keystone STARS Performance Standards provide the foundation for the program. The standards address staff qualifications and professional development, the early learning program, partnerships with family and community, and leadership and management.
Recently, Keystone STARS recognized teachers and child care facilities throughout southeastern Pennsylvania for their excellence in their profession. A runner up for the Teacher of the Year Award in Montgomery County was Bernadette Ross from Play and Learn in Fort Washington. Bernadette has been in the child care profession for over twenty years and currently works as a Group Head Assistant at the Infant and Toddler Center. She has taken on the duties and responsibilities of a leader and was the first person at Play & Learn in Fort Washington to embrace the STARS program. She has recently completed her Child Development Associate program and has her eyes set on obtaining her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Bernadette has constantly demonstrated excellence in all phases of her career. She is respected by children, parents, staff and her director.
Congratulations Bernadette for your nomination and for being Play and Learn’s Teacher of the Year.
