Play & Learn held a Professional Development Inservice Day on February 17, 2025 which brought 145 teachers and Directors together from 12 centers who collectively received 870 hours of training.
In keeping with our Core Values, “Elevate Play” was the theme for February’s Inservice Training which offered an array of session related to play including:
- The Science of Play and the Teacher’s Role
- Connecting Outdoor and Indoor Play Ideas, and
- Enhancing Learning Through Blocks, Art, and Sand & Water Play
During the lunch break teachers played games like: Backgammon, Hopscotch, Twister, Yahtzee, Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornhole. By playing games themselves, the teachers could experience the joy and learning inherent in play firsthand. This reinforced the concepts from the training sessions and allowed for personal reflection.

Bryn Mawr Director Susan Feldman and Jess Feldman play Backgammon, one of the oldest known board games.

All in all it was an informative day filled with FUN! This kind of training translates to a richer and more engaging learning environment for the children in our care.
