Nutrition Standards

While the lunch and snack offerings vary from Center to Center, Play and Learn is dedicated to providing your child with healthy and age-appropriate nutrition. And, we regularly receive grants to help us provide the healthiest nutrition possible.

Your tuition covers two healthy snacks a day – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. All snacks feature foods from two food groups and are peanut- and tree nut-free. At Play and Learn we understand the severity of allergies and are therefore a peanut and tree-nut free center. We closely monitor and document each child’s allergies, and our staff is trained in how to respond to allergic reactions.

Play and Learn participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP),a program that assists our centers to provide healthy, balanced snacks in accordance with nutritional requirements under the Department of Education. All snacks served to children under this program are served at no separate charge regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. There is no discrimination in admission policy, meal service, or the use of facilities. Any complaints of discrimination should be submitted in writing within 180 days of the incident to the USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Washington, D.C. 20250.

If you and your child prefer, you are free to supply your own snacks. Click here for a guide to safe snacks.

Each month, we post menus in our monthly newsletters so you can see the nutritional offerings at our Centers. Check out a sample menu.
